There are two types of commonly used artificial turf foundations: asphalt
foundation and cement foundation. Which type to use is mainly determined by the
local climate environment and budget. In most areas of the country,
cement-concrete foundations are economical, practical, and cost-effective as
stadium foundations. But hardness, flatness and drainage slope are primary. The
cement concrete foundation and asphalt foundation are briefly introduced as
      follows:

      Cement concrete basic requirements

      1. Strength and stability of the ground: The surface of the cement concrete
foundation must be uniform and solid, without cracks or rotten edges, and the
joints should be straight and smooth. It is best to cut into pieces of
6000mm×6000mm (commonly known as V-shaped expansion joints). The cushion layer
is compacted, with a density of >95%. After being crushed by a medium-sized
roller, there are no obvious wheel marks, loose soil, waves, etc.

      2. The slope of the ground: with the central site as the slope on both sides,
the slope is 3‰-4‰, commonly known as the turtle-back drainage design. 8‰ for
curves, 5‰ for straights, and 5‰ for semicircular areas. The surface should be
flat and smooth to ensure smooth drainage.

      3. Waterproof layer on the ground: Use new PVC thickened waterproof film, the
overlap should be >200mm, and the edge margin should be >150mm.

      4. Flatness of the ground: The flatness pass rate is above 95%, and the
      5-meter ruler error is <3mm.

      5. Ground maintenance period: The basic maintenance period is 21 days.

      Asphalt basic requirements

      1. Ground strength and stability: It is best for the asphalt base to contain
no wax, or asphalt materials containing very little wax, and the asphalt mixture
must be fully compacted. The surface is uniform and solid, smooth with no
cracks, no rotten edges, no pitting, and smooth seams. The gravel diameter of
the asphalt concrete surface layer is 2-5mm, and the oil content is 5.8-6.4%.
The gravel particle diameter of the joint layer is 6-9mm, and the oil content is
4.6-5.8%. There is no softness, peeling, loose soil, waves, etc.

      2. Ground slope: horizontally <1%, vertically <1‰, high jump area
<4‰, the surface should be flat and smooth to ensure smooth drainage.

      3. Ground drainage: The drainage system must drain all accumulated water two
      hours after heavy rain.

      4. Ground flatness: The asphalt foundation should have a certain strength and
stability. The asphalt foundation should not produce cracks and uneven frost
heaving caused by freezing. The flatness qualification rate should be above 95%,
and the 3-meter ruler error should be <3mm.
